Ships like these from the VOC (The Dutch East India Company
Came to the Cape during the 17th & 18th Century
It would take about 3 months to saul from Europe to the Cape so next time you fly think of these vessels with no confort and diseases was common
So 12 or 20 hours flight is after all not that bad
